Elimination Hockey Pool


Rules

  1. The Hockey Pool is an elimination pool based on contestants choosing the winning NHL team playing a regular season weekend NHL game in the 2023-2024 Season. Contestants are required to choose any team previously not selected from any one regularly scheduled weekend NHL game (either Saturday or Sunday). A complete schedule is available on-line..
  2. Contestant must choose a team that wins the game selected to avoid being penalized if the team looses the player will receive a "minor penalty" (see Rule 4). Extra Time and Shootout results count toward the final game result.
  3. Player picks must be submitted by E-mail or Phone or By Using the Web Site.  Web Site users benifit from Reminder Emails, Automatic Pick Tracking and a Status Page to view statistics and your Competators Selections, see below for details.
  4. It is the players responsibility to verify games scheduled have not been cancelled and make changes prior to the pick deadline. Games cancelled AFTER the deadline will be accounted for without penalty to the player.
  5. Players who accumulate three minor penalties are ejected from the game and eliminated as an active participant in the pool. (Three strikes and you're out.)
  6. The pool will continue through the remainder of the season with participants picking their choice of a winning team for each of the remaining weekends while a participant remains active in the pool. A winner is declared when a single contestant remains active in the pool.
  7. The winner will receive a "jackpot" prize of 75% of the collected entry fees.  A Second and Third place prize for the players eliminated first and second to last at the end of the pool. In the event there is more than one player eliminated resulting in a single person remaining active in the pool second and third prize will be combined and split evenly between the player last eliminated.
  8. Contestants must pick a different team for each of the weekends between the start of the contest continuing through to it's completion. Duplicate entries will result in the player recieving a Minor Penalty.
  9. Picks must be submitted by 12:00 Noon EST Saturday, prior to the games to be played that week.
  10. In the event a participant fails to submit a valid selection prior to the deadline of a particular weekend thay will be given a "minor penalty", they and remain active in the pool provided they do not exceed the penalty limit of Three Minor Penalties.
  11. In the event all remaining active players are eliminated in one weekend all those players will remain active for the following weekend.
  12. Should multiple players be active at the conclusion of regular NHL Season play, the pool will go into "Overtime" and continue into the NHL playoffs. The requirement for No Duplicate Entries will be reset allowing players to choose teams previously selected in the "Regular Season".
  13. Should multiple players be active at the conclusion of Playoff Rounds 1 & 2 the pool will go into "Sudden Death Overtime" and continue into the Semi-Finals and Finals but the remaining players are required to choose a winning team for every game of every night. The requirement to select a different team is removed for the Semi-Final & Final Round.
  14. In the event of a tie going into the "Sudden Death Round" players will be asked to choose the total goals in the each game of the Stanley Cup Series to assist in determining a winner.
  15. Contestants are required to manage their own picks, submissions may not be reviewed by the pool's administrator prior to the deadline, the pool administrator is not required to notify contestants of duplicates prior to the game chosen.
  16. Player must be registered and the Entry Fee of $25.00 CDN must be submitted prior to October 12th, 2024. All entry fees are combined and awarded as the "Jackpot" prize for the winner. Payment can now be made via e-Transfer offered by almost all Banks or PayPal send me a quick note if you with to use this option.
  17. You must be 18 years of age or older to participate. Void where prohibited by law.
  18. Conflict Resolution - in the event of a discrepancy between a pool contestant and the pool organizer (myself) I am right and the contestant is wrong.

Visiting the website is the prefered way to update submissions to this pool, all entries are time-stamped by the server and makes keeping track of your picks easy.
Email
All email submissions must be time-stamped by MY email server as being sent prior to the submission deadline. Due to Internet latency issues it is suggested all email submissions be made on the Friday prior to the deadline.
